About Armes Wood Cornard
Eden Rose manages 2.4 acres of urban woodland behind Sainsbury’s in Cornard, Suffolk known as Armes Wood.
Formerly the Armes carpet factory the site was also a working chalk pit. Since the pit closed the site has been colonised mainly by self- seeding Sycamore and Acacia.
Since September 2018 Volunteers have been working hard; clearing Sycamores and Acacia together with copious amounts of litter!
Planting includes Hazel, Oak; Elm; Rowan; Wild Cherry; Silver Birch; Hawthorn and Hornbeam – about 900 trees over two planting seasons.
Armes Wood is an ongoing project.
